Waste, prevention and recycling
Waste management is governed in all respects by the legislation in force and the interpretation of all of the proposed measures is in accordance with the waste hierarchy The College is a legal entity in the position of a waste producer with clearly described obligations (Act No 541/2020 Coll.).
This does not always mean that the system is set up effectively and correctly in terms of prevention and recycling of waste. In most parts of many universities waste is not properly sorted, prevention is inadequate and instructions or management by those responsible inadequate.
The lack of or reluctance to communicate is also a problem in many universities followed by weaknesses in the management of the whole developing process/theme.
Hierarchy (from bursar to waste receiver) and key persons/positions identified.
The position of University Ecologist is proposed for consideration.
Strategic objectives, waste management issues divided into 4 groups:
1. Disposal, landfill - 6 recommendations
2. Sorting/recycling - 8 recommendations
3. Recovery of waste and packaging materials - 4 recommendations
4. Waste prevention, waste reduction - 5 recommendations
The proposals for specific solutions are further divided according to the 5 key positions of the hierarchy
