Water management, rainwater and grey water
Priorities need to be considered when identifying measures, with an emphasis on economic and environmental benefits.
The specification of criteria cannot be generalised for the universities involved and their campuses/buildings (intensity, time, financial, funding sources, human resources, prerequisites, key persons)
- Building layout of existing campuses and buildings, to be developed project documentation (urban development, historical centres...)
- Requirements for internal sewage systems and grey water treatment technologies
5 separate recommendations have been described: - Minimising evaporation: vegetation, green management
- Minimising rainwater runoff: storage and retention basins for rainwater retention, green roofs, external and internal green walls, infiltration
surfaces, water areas, wetlands - Monitor water management: consumption monitoring, monitoring rainwater retention (quantity, quality), monitoring of water leakage
- Grey water use: installation of a grey water circuit
- Reducing water consumption: installation of water efficient taps or pearl flushers, installation of water saving flushers in toilets, installation of
installation of energy-saving showerheads, installation of touchless faucets
