MU's history in the UI GreenMetric rankings
In line with its long-term strategic plan, Masaryk University joined the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking for the first time in 2020 in an effort to highlight the importance of socially responsible and environmentally sustainable behaviour. This international ranking assesses the world's universities in relation to their CSR and sustainability activities.

2024
MU is ranked in the top 9% of GreenMetric participated universities in 2024. Compared to 2023, it has increased its score to 8,385 out of 10,000 total points and is ranked 124th in a growing competition (294 more evaluated universities than in 2023). It improved its score in 3 of the 6 pillars of the ranking (Energy and Climate Change, Water and Education).

MU is ranked in the top 10% of GreenMetric participated universities in 2023. Compared to 2022, it has increased its score to 8,235 out of 10,000 total points and is ranked 119th in a growing competition (133 more evaluated universities than in 2022). It improved its score in 4 of the 6 pillars of the ranking (Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste and Water).

2021
In 2021, MU improved its position in the ranking and ranked 131st out of 956 universities. MU's best rankings were in the categories that focused on education and research for sustainability (world's 70th place), university energy management with respect to the environment (97th place) and transport (145th place).

2020
In 2020, 912 universities participated in the UI GreenMetric WUR. Masaryk University thus joined five Czech universities in spreading awareness of their efforts in the field of sustainable development.
In the 2020 assessment, MU ranked 229th among the 912 universities assessed worldwide. Within the Czech Republic, MU was ranked 2nd behind the Czech University of Live Sciences in Prague.
