Last year, Veronika Kamenská became a laureate of the Jan Opletal Award in the Personality under 30 category. A doctoral student at the Faculty of Medicine and a technician of interactive teaching at the Simulation Centre, she started the Nepanikař – or Don’t Panic – mobile app several years ago. Today, it helps hundreds of thousands of people dealing with anxiety, depression or suicidal thoughts.
A total of 17 doctoral students from Masaryk University have received the Brno Ph.D. Talent award. This year, 151 PhD candidates from Brno universities applied for the scholarship – the highest number in the competition’s sixteen-year history.
Thanks to its EFMD Global membership, the Faculty of Economics and Administration (ECON MUNI) now has access to an international network of schools, professional platforms and groups that help to improve the quality of its teaching and research, as well as provide new job opportunities for students and graduates.
Monika Brusenbauch Meislová from the MU Faculty of Social Studies has been elected a Fellow of the British Academy of Social Sciences.
He travels around the world giving lectures, is inspired by meetings with interesting people, and in his free moments relaxes best while riding a motorcycle. However, Nicholas Winton Jr. primarily tries to motivate the next generations to be courageous by reminding them of his father’s story. “We are all Wintons—each and every one of us. All it takes is to believe in yourself and start doing what you think is right,” he says.
Remembering the birthday of the first Czechoslovak president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, or TGM, is not only a matter of courtesy. Masaryk Days were created to make the legacy of TGM a living part of the present and of the values that form the foundation of our freedom.
