Faculty of Sport Studies
E-sports, gaming on PCs or phones, has been a rapidly growing phenomenon in recent years, accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Esports activities pose risks to society and the players themselves, and it is the responsibility of academia to educate young gamers in particular. Due to the extreme intensity, addictive nature and long periods of time spent in front of gaming devices, gamers face a range of health problems commonly found in wider sedentary society, but much earlier and in a more intense form.
