How to handle paper at MUNI

In order not to waste your time, we have summarised everything about the university waste sorting.

Prevention is the key

  • Masaryk University is striving to become a paperless institution - most administrative processes (from announcing selection procedures for new employees to the signing of documents by the Rector) are carried out electronically without the need to produce printed documents.
  • Masaryk University supports double-sided printing and other activities to minimise paper waste.

To the containers marked with blue stickers:

YES

  • Newspapers, magazines, office paper, advertising stationery, notebooks, cardboard, boxes, paper covers, book pages
  • Do not mind paper with paper clips and sewing, no need to remove the foil window from the envelopes

No

  • Any kind of soiled paper (wet, greasy, food), waxed paper, combined paper and plastic packaging, beverage cartons, used toiletries, used paper towels and tissues, shop receipts.

Thank you for helping on the road to a circular economy at MUNI!

Did you know that...?

  • Used paper can be recycled up to 6 times and used to make new paper.
  • Recycling 1 tonne of paper saves 17 trees (more than 2 tonnes of wood).
  • By unfolding or tearing boxes and larger pieces, much more can fit in the container than in its original state!
