2.1 Sustainability in research
Objective:
Develop cutting-edge research whose results have a positive impact on society, the economy and the environment.
MEASURES:
- EXCELLENCE AND INTERDISCIPLINARITY - the University is purposefully supporting strategic research priorities within specialised research areas that will also act as laboratories of sustainability and will promote interdisciplinary collaboration between different teams across disciplines.
- PARTNERSHIPS AND APPLICATION - the University develops partnerships with the public, private and non-profit sectors, as well as with other universities at national and international level. These collaborations will enable the application of research results in practice and ensure their direct contribution to the SDGs.
- SHARING-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT - the University promotes a sustainable and inspiring environment for scientific work, e.g. by providing quality infrastructure, spaces and opportunities for meetings, by implementing sustainable environmental standards not only in research spaces (Green labs, LEAF), by sharing equipment and facilities independent of research groups and by promoting overall efficiency.
OUTPUTS:
- Strengthening the University's position as an institution of excellence in research for sustainable development, capable of attracting and retaining talented scientists from around the world and attracting international funding.
- A clear system for the transfer and application of research outputs in the public and private sectors.
- Developed and applied system to identify SDG linkages for projects and publications.
- Increased number of scientific results in topics that contribute to the SDGs and their communication inside and outside the university.
- Expanding the network of collaborating sustainability partners who contribute to the dissemination of research results into practice.
