Society in Change

Masaryk University scientists are involved in dozens of European and national research projects with a direct impact on the quality of life of people not only in the South Moravian region. They cooperate with companies and state administration on many of them. These projects are open to students of all MU faculties, but also to various groups of citizens.

Selected project - CESMOD

The main objective of the CESMOD project, implemented with the support of TA ČR, is to establish a center that will ensure long-term professional capacity for socio-economic research in the field of developing a resilient, SMART, and sustainable society. The interdisciplinary center will strengthen the professional competencies and knowledge of state and local government and create a research base for better implementation of the government's Smart City Concept and for supporting the creation and implementation of cohesion policy, regional policy, spatial development, and tourism. It will focus on researching the economic, environmental, social, and institutional aspects of developing a SMART society. It will build a stable base for applied research by concentrating research capacities and focusing them on applying research results in practice. This is a project to support the smart agenda in the Czech Republic, involving leading Czech universities, private companies in the SMART field, and the Ministry of Regional Development. A research team from the Faculty of Informatics is involved in the project on behalf of MU.
